My name is Norma Budden; I’m an Administration Manager by day and a writer by night. On the side, I try to fit in my family, friends and not to mention snatch a few moments to myself. What can I say? Life is a juggle but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I drive myself to extreme limits sometimes in my quest to get ahead – to get to a point where I don’t need to spend 10 hours a day on my feet. It’s much more comfortable sitting in front of a computer in a cozy chair and getting the breaks I need, as required. After all, there’s no point in becoming stiff as a board, nor being glued to a computer screen. Besides, I like knowing that my children are nearby and when they get too loud, I can always plug in the earphones and listen to some tunes.
At some point, I fully intend to be writing full time, or doing a combination of writing and editing. I enjoy the written word and could surround myself with words for several hours each day, in one form or another. However, even as a writer, I need to take a break from writing and immerse myself into reading the works of others, for a while…and that’s how this blog came into being.
I come across books sometimes which I cannot help but love and, in such cases, a Facebook mention or tweet doesn’t feel like it’s enough. This blog was born as a result of my desire to encourage fellow writers whom I admire to keep pressing on, continuing to live part of their dreams, while I cheer them on in my corner of the world.
Just because your book isn’t listed here, it doesn’t mean I don’t like it. It means I have never heard of it or have never gotten around to reading it. Even so, with the number of books circulating the world today, there will be few people whose books actually get featured on this blog. Even so, if you write something great, chances are that I will find you. Someone will be talking and I will hear about you and I will feel compelled to read your book.
Even so, as stated above, I am one person – a busy person. This blog is not designed to add stress to my life nor the lives of my children. Instead, it is created so I can direct people to those books I find most fascinating. Who knows? In time, you just might see a post featuring a book which you have written.
Meanwhile, feel free to browse the pages of Budden Book Reviews. You’ll find names of authors I’ve interviewed and a few sites of possible interest.
Please take a look at the books I’ve reviewed and featured at Budden Book Reviews. If you’ve read some of the titles, feel free to share your thoughts with the author. If you haven’t, perhaps there’s something I’ve written in a review which might spur you to read a book, possibly by an author whose name you’ve never heard. To make things easier for you to find the titles I’ve reviewed, I created a page (Books Reviewed) and, if you click on a cover image, it will take you to my review of that particular book.
I hope you enjoy the time you spend at Budden Book Reviews and, please, do come again.
